A group of us drove to Mezcala de la Asuncion and took a boat out to the largest island in Mexico’s largest lake, Lago de Chapala. Isla Mezcala features an old Spanish fort and Mexican prison complex. Even though the buildings are ruins you can imagine that life there was not an easy thing.
